My name is James Hodgson (aka. Hodge) and I am Owner/Operator/Gimaa of Nish Tees. I am Anishinabe and my people are from Whitesand First Nation. Like so many other Native children of my generation, ties to my culture were effectively eradicated through the 60’s Scoop. Growing up in suburban Toronto, I learned a history in which I was an anomaly: I should be extinct or at best, exotic.
I find myself on a long journey back to my roots. I hope to use Nish Tees to express some of the more difficult obstacles I have encountered to this point on the journey, as well as using it to promote awareness of indigenous language, humour, culture, etc., through wearable art.
Check my blog posts often to see how I am progressing. Check out the store to see original wearables you can purchase. Check out the ‘Custom Orders’ page if you or your organization/business/band is looking for clothing, buttons, or countless other products to promote yourselves.
Miigwetch, and Thank You,
